Biography

Kumbirai (Kumby) Dhliwayo is pharmaceutical microbiologist with a 15-year career that spans across the medical device, biopharma, and biotech industries. As an emerging leader and avid educator, he has worked with companies and supported teams across the globe including in Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe.

He has held senior management roles in Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Quality Control laboratories and industry instrumentation companies. Kumby is currently focused on consulting and supports clients through contamination control strategy development, microbial remediation, laboratory buildout, QC method transfer, serving as a new technology assessments subject matter expert, and acting as an interim QC manager. In this capacity, he continues to be grounded in his professional mantra – QC should be boring, if it’s too exciting, you are doing it wrong.

Kumby holds an MS in Regulatory Affairs and Health Policy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, an MS in Operations and Project Management from Southern New Hampshire University, and a BS in Microbiology with a minor in Economics from University of Massachusetts.
